Winston Bassett is the wealthy father of Wooton Bassett and of Wooton's identical twin brother, Wellington. He is married to Evangeline, and he is a man of business, with a family company that Wellington helps run in Alaska. Winston is proud, demanding, and hard to please. Wooton, who never fit his father's mold, went six years without hearing from him. Winston once invited Wooton back into the family, but only to secure a business merger, and he left town disappointed when his son refused the terms. Wellington grew up terrified of letting him down. Yet Winston's sternness hides real feeling. He can listen, admit when Wooton is right, and forgive an honest mistake. Through Wooton's wife, Penny, he is also a father-in-law.
