Steven Schmidt

Steven Schmidt is the father of Danny Schmidt and lives in Odyssey with his wife and son. He is a patient, principled parent whose Christian faith shapes his whole household. He and his wife keep firm rules for Danny, such as asking permission before watching any movie, but they pair the rules with warmth and steady guidance. When Danny was tempted to abandon piano the way he had abandoned karate, gymnastics, and swimming, his dad promised to reveal the secret keys of discipline. He then sat Danny at the piano and pointed to all eighty-eight of them, showing there is no shortcut, only the choice to keep your word. He and his wife once spent an evening telling the troubled Marsden family how Jesus changes lives, and the Marsdens soon appeared in church.
