Police Officer

The Police Officer is the steady face of the law in Odyssey, appearing wherever trouble comes to a head. He is rarely at the center of a story. Instead he arrives at the decisive moment - to open a suspicious bag, round up a ring of bootleggers, or haul a con man off to jail. His work ranges from the small to the serious. He tickets a driver for going too slow, questions travelers over a missing knapsack, and hunts an escaped convict while a radio host keeps the man talking. He sometimes works alongside John Whittaker, as when the two quietly set a trap that catches a burglar red-handed. Matter-of-fact and dependable, he is less a personality than a presence, the assurance that in Odyssey wrongdoing is eventually found out.
