Martin Franklin Johns

Martin Franklin Johns is a small-time thief who owns a pickup truck. Alongside his partner Russell Kosh, he was hired by Professor Marcus to steal every copy of a report written by the professor's student, Eugene Meltsner. The pair took Eugene's laptop and disks, erased his files, and then staged a robbery at Holstein's Books to seize the last printed copy without revealing their real purpose. When a silent alarm forced them to improvise, they took the blind girl Jenny Roberts hostage, believing she could never identify them. Johns drove her back toward Odyssey himself, insisting the kidnapping was an accident and promising to leave her safely. He peppers his speech with the phrase "you know", a habit Jenny's sharp ears did not miss.
