Joab

Joab is a general in the army of King David of Israel, encountered by Odyssey's young Parker siblings during an Imagination Station adventure into Bible times. Gruff and ruthless in temperament, he is a loyal servant of the king, and Matthew Parker served under him for a time as his dart-bearer. Joab is also a schemer when he judges it useful. Hoping to reconcile David with his exiled son, he arranged with a storytelling woman from Tekoa to have Prince Absalom brought home from banishment, though on the hard condition that the prince never see the king's face. When Absalom later rose in rebellion against his father, Joab stood with David, and his hard-edged decisiveness proved crucial in defending the throne.
