Woots is a robot and the sidekick of Detective Drake, a cosmic police officer of the far future. The pair spring from the imagination of Wooton, who dreams up their adventures as comic books at Whit's End. Woots works alongside Drake on his strangest cases, from an alien settlement accused of plotting a takeover to a hidden lab where a young scientist tore holes in time. The robot also filters what Drake sees and hears, relaying it to headquarters. That link once nearly caused disaster. Headquarters prepared to wipe out a colony of misunderstood aliens, and Drake powered Woots down to demand the truth for himself. Woots also shares casework with Stella, a cheerful synthetic girl whom Drake adopted as his daughter.
