Sir William
Sir William of Marshall is a twelfth-century knight who becomes Isaac Morton's guide to genuine chivalry. When the Imagination Station appears to bring him into modern Odyssey, William mistakes the machine for witchcraft and strikes it with his sword. Isaac introduces him to maps, medicine, and ice cream while helping Whit and Eugene repair the damage. In return, William teaches Isaac that chivalry means defending the faith, protecting the weak, keeping one's word, and showing courage with restraint. He is formal, honorable, and bewildered by modern life. After Isaac refuses to answer Rodney Rathbone's insults with violence, William recognizes his courage and dubs him Isaac the Chivalrous, Knight of Odyssey.
