Gobir
Gobir is an elder of a remote African village and a member of the Ashanti tribe. His people have lived cut off from the outside world for more than twenty years, and his word carries great weight among them. He is the husband of Aman and the father of a son. Gobir is a stern, superstitious man who guards the village fiercely against anything unfamiliar. He is quick to blame misfortune on the anger of the gods, and slow to trust strangers. When Eugene and Katrina arrived hoping to build a radio transmitter for the village, Gobir declared that the newcomers had angered the gods and turned his people against them. For all his harshness, his severity is driven less by malice than by fear.
