Eric Liddell
Eric Liddell is a historical figure whom Bridget Perkins meets through an Imagination Station adventure loaded by Pastor Knox. The son of a missionary to China, he survived a serious illness as a boy and attended boarding school in Britain. After a German U-boat sank the ship carrying his father, he resolved to carry on his father's missionary work. He became the fastest runner in Scotland, but kept one rule: God came first, even before the Olympics. When his Olympic qualifying heat in Paris fell on a Sunday, he refused to run. He switched races instead and shattered the world record in the 400 meters. He then left fame behind to serve as a missionary in China with his wife Florence and their daughters. He later died in the Weihsien internment camp, where the children knew him as Uncle Eric.
