I don't think Whit actually contradicts himself with what he believed in By Any Other Name. Then it wasn't about changing Whit's End it was only about changing names. The moral was changing names doesn't mean you change what it is. Here Whit is actually changing Whit's End around so no I don't believe there is a contradiction here.
