Goofs

It's a bit unrealistic that a town with a population of only 50,000 would have such a large airport.

Yes and no. It is probably the place chosen for the airport and all the surrounding ares travel to this one. Plus Odyssey has a college with dorm rooms implying people live there which means they are not from the area but have to travel to get there. And it could only be one or two small concourses with a few gates each - it doesn't have to be a large airport...
