Wilda Murphy

Wilda Murphy is a wildlife photographer working in Gentle River Park whose patient observation captures evidence no one else knows exists. She keeps a stationary video camera aimed at an eastern kingbird's nest. While investigating Vic Hamilton's claim that bank teller Brad Diamond framed him, Connie and Joanne remember Wilda's equipment. Her recording from April 13 shows Brad meeting a limping man at a distant picnic table, disproving his claim that he never knew Vic. The footage gives police reason to reopen the robbery case and helps stop Vic from taking revenge. Wilda does not set out to solve a crime. Her careful study of birds simply preserves the truth in the background, showing how disciplined attention to nature can reveal important human actions as well.
