Officer Sedgewick is the police officer who investigates the disappearance of Robyn Jacobs' bicycle. Robyn claims that two men in black broke the lock and carried the bike away in a van, and her changing account leads police to question two innocent brothers. When their alibi proves sound, Sedgewick visits the Jacobs home to continue sorting out what happened. His presence makes it impossible for Robyn to keep hiding behind the elaborate story she has created. She finally admits that she had left her new lock at home and invented the thieves to cover her carelessness. Sedgewick's straightforward investigation helps expose how one lie can grow into trouble for many innocent people.
