S.L. Clemmens

S.L. Clemmens owns and operates Clemmens Cameras in Odyssey. When Rodney Rathbone reports a stolen camera, private investigator Harlow Doyle checks whether anyone has brought it into the shop, but Clemmens has seen nothing matching the report. Later, a newspaper photograph of Bible Bowl winner Denver Thor catches his attention. Clemmens recognizes Denver as the boy who recently delivered two rolls of film and collected one with a tall, sneering companion. That careful memory gives Harlow and Lucy the clue they need to expose Rodney and Denver's scheme. The boys had used the camera to photograph contest answers, then pretended it was stolen to hide the cheating. Observant and helpful, Clemmens proves that an ordinary shopkeeper's attention to customers can solve a case that initially seems to have no evidence.
