Rama
Rama was the captain of an Alexandrian ship hired to carry the Apostle Paul and other prisoners toward Rome. At Fair Havens, Paul warned that sailing so late in the year would bring shipwreck, injury, and loss. Rama assured the Roman centurion Julius that there was still time to reach a better harbor, and the voyage continued. A violent northeaster soon drove the vessel helplessly for fourteen days. Rama's crew reinforced the hull, discarded cargo, dropped anchors, and eventually tried to escape in the lifeboat. Paul warned that everyone needed to remain aboard, so the attempt was stopped. The ship broke apart near Malta, yet every passenger, sailor, guard, and prisoner reached shore alive.
