Melville Quid

Melville A. Quidd is a salty old sea captain whose vessels are as unreliable as his seamanship. He skippers the Penny's Worth, a leaky deep-sea fishing tub in the Florida Keys. He claims to steer by the stars, and he has a habit of abandoning ship the moment things go wrong. Misfortune follows him wherever he sails. During a Hawaiian getaway, his leaky boat ran out of gas and left a group of vacationing grown-ups from Odyssey stranded at sea. He also crewed a deep-sea submarine for a B-TV voyage hosted by Connie Kendall, alongside ocean scientist Jacqueline Cusco. Whether carrying fishermen, tourists, or television crews, Quidd brings the same mix of nautical bravado and hapless luck to every trip.
