Maddie Burnette

Maddie Burnette is Eugene Meltsner's foster mother and, with her husband Frank, helped raise him after his parents disappeared. Their home preserves reminders of Eugene's childhood, including old trophies and a broken soap dish saved from one of his exploding experiments. When Eugene's search for his father leaves him feeling rejected and alone, a visit to the Burnettes helps him recognize the family God has provided throughout his life. Maddie and Frank cannot answer his questions about Leonard, but their years of steady care speak more deeply than new information could. They also once refused a plan to take young Eugene on a dangerous overseas journey, a decision that later proved to have protected his life.
