Job

Job was a faithful man whose terrible losses tested his trust in God. In a single day, he lost his herds, servants, and ten children. Painful sores followed, while his friends insisted that such suffering must be punishment for some hidden wrongdoing. Job questioned why these disasters had come and struggled to understand God's justice. God answered by reminding him who had laid the earth's foundations and governed a creation far beyond human knowledge. Humbled, Job repented of judging matters he could not fully see. His experience shows that suffering is not proof of guilt and that people cannot put God on trial from their limited viewpoint. Even in grief and confusion, Job's story calls others to trust the One who understands what they do not.
