Professor Ian Crenshaw

Professor Ian Crenshaw is a scholar at Campbell College whom Whit asks to examine a scrap of cloth sent from Jerusalem. Local workers believe the material came from the robe of Jesus, and public excitement quickly grows around it. Crenshaw finds genuine first-century clues on the pouch that held the cloth, but explains that proving the fabric's age would require burning the entire sample during testing. His scientific caution cannot satisfy a crowd already treating the object as sacred. When people panic at the thought of destruction, the dispute becomes dangerous. Crenshaw's findings leave the central claim unproved and support Whit's reminder that Christian faith rests in Jesus himself, not in an uncertain relic.
