Howard Pulaski

Howard Pulaski is Shelly's husband, the father of twins Darcy and Miles, and a soldier in an Army family newly moved to Connellsville. At a ministry barbecue, the Pulaskis meet the Perkins family and absorb several of their fears and exaggerated stories. Howard later asks Carla what happened after cheerful Darcy rejects friendship, Miles fears ordinary milk, and Shelly has nightmares about deployment. He does not merely blame the visitors. Howard gently helps Bridget understand that Darcy listens to her and that influence exists whether someone wants it or not. He explains that protecting a heart from every possible goodbye can erase the vibrant person underneath. His counsel helps both girls choose friendship despite the risk of future separation.
