Hotshutpa
Hotshutpa was an Egyptian official who ran Pharaoh's kitchen during the final plagues. After young Jimmy Barclay was taken into the palace, Hotshutpa put him to work and sent him to carry food and drink to Pharaoh's lonely son. Through that assignment, Jimmy befriended the prince and entered the royal court while Moses demanded freedom for the Hebrew slaves. On the night of Passover, Hotshutpa caught Jimmy trying to escape and sent him back to serve the ailing boy. His strict oversight kept Jimmy inside the palace as judgment passed through Egypt. Hotshutpa's ordinary commands placed a visiting child close to Pharaoh's family and danger, making George Barclay's search for his son part of the larger struggle between Pharaoh and Moses.
