Fox Fletcher

Fox Fletcher is a successful businessman negotiating a contract with Wellington Bassett. Because Wellington cannot attend one meeting, his identical twin Wooton puts on a suit and pretends to be him. Fox enjoys the cheerful company of the supposed Wellington so much that a simple errand expands into golf, banquet plans, and a growing friendship. He accepts each carefully worded half truth because he has no reason to suspect the man beside him is someone else. When Wooton finally confesses, Fox must reconsider both the deal and the honesty of the people pursuing it. Sociable and influential, Fox is less a villain than the person placed at a disadvantage when others decide that technically true words make deliberate deception acceptable.
