Edith Sutton

Edith Sutton is Rudy Sutton's mother and an admirer of Whit who expresses her affection with cookies and enthusiastic pet names. When Whit and Mitch visit her home during an investigation, she proudly explains that Rudy gave her a new television, computer, and red car. Those costly gifts expose his involvement in a prison escape scheme far beyond his legitimate income. Edith later attends a birthday gathering for Connie's mother, where Eugene's overzealous attempts to serve the guests unintentionally offend her. She remains especially eager to spend time with Whit, much to the amusement of Connie and Eugene, who quickly find reasons to leave when she arrives. Edith's warm attention is sincere, determined, and difficult for Whit to escape.
