David Timic
David Timic is a rival radio performer known as Timic the Mimic. Disguised in feathers and war paint, he enters Whit's End as a supposed medicine man and announces an ancient curse. His four mysterious signs seem to come true through ordinary coincidences, frightening Connie, Eugene, and Lucy as Whit prepares a new Kids' Radio dish. The curse predicts the owner's death just when a past pattern makes the threat appear convincing. Timic eventually admits that he invented the entire performance to scare away radio competition. His elaborate mimicry is imaginative but dishonest, and it nearly causes a real rooftop disaster during the frantic rescue attempt. Whit forgives him while reminding everyone that superstition has no power over people who trust God.
