Colonel Oliver is a soldier of Maris, the strange two-mooned land that Kyle and Anna reach from Odyssey. He serves as General Darien's second-in-command and is the most loyal of his men. Oliver is cautious and protective by nature. When Kyle first arrived, Oliver stayed suspicious of the boy and vowed to find out whether he secretly served Maris's enemies, the Palatians. He shares Darien's distrust of General Liddell. When Darien lost the king's protection, Oliver gathered loyal soldiers and came to him voluntarily after receiving a message from the Old Judge. Darien relies on him for delicate work. Oliver investigated Baron Orkzy's offer by bringing in an informer called the Rat, escorted Kyle to reunite with Anna, and discovered that Kyle had slipped away by train toward Dor.
