Cain
Cain was the first son of Adam and Eve and the older brother of Abel. He worked the soil and brought an offering to God, but he became consumed with envy when Abel's offering was regarded differently. Instead of tending to his own heart, Cain allowed resentment to grow until he killed his brother in a field. His story becomes a central example in B-TV's examination of coveting. Wanting what belonged to someone else did not improve Cain's own gift or relationship with God; it destroyed his relationship with Abel and led to terrible violence. His failure warns that envy must be confronted early with gratitude, responsibility, and honest attention to one's own choices.
