Ben Parley

Ben Parley represents the Odyssey Business Association and is determined to unite local businesses behind the Let's Get Together Festival. Because Whit's End is the only business that has not joined, Parley pressures Whit to display the festival poster and later arranges what becomes an arbitration before the association board. He wants cooperation and repeatedly urges Whit to soften his objections. As evidence emerges that businesses have been threatened and manipulated, Parley realizes the campaign is not the harmless community effort he believed. He confirms the intimidation and brings the matter back for a new vote. Though often anxious about conflict, Parley ultimately responds to facts and helps the association consider a different celebration centered on families.
