Arthur Fieldstone
Arthur Fieldstone is a wealthy financier who discovers the young piano prodigy Will during a traveling show. Impressed by the boy's talent and growing fame, he takes Will to the Capitol for performances at the celebrated King's Hall. Fieldstone helps turn Will's gift into a demanding schedule of three or four appearances a day, surrounded by parties but lacking genuine friendship. He is thrilled when the King offers Will a rare royal charter and expects immediate acceptance. Will's wish to consult his parents frustrates both Fieldstone and the idol Otto, who have grown accustomed to directing the boy's future. Smooth, influential, and focused on success, Fieldstone represents the powerful adult interests that gather around talent once applause and opportunity become more important than the young person carrying them.
