Alicia

Alicia is the smartest, prettiest, and most popular girl at Heather's school. Intimidated during their first laboratory assignment, Heather spills acid and becomes convinced that copying Alicia will solve her insecurity. She studies Alicia's hair, clothes, manner, and voice, then impersonates her in a matching bear costume at a party. Because Alicia is home sick, everyone credits her for the disguised girl's actions. Heather behaves cruelly at first, but later stops Mark from using stolen chemicals to fill the party with poisonous fumes. The school hails a baffled Alicia as a hero. Alicia has done nothing to seek this attention; she serves mainly as the ideal Heather imagines she must become. Her popularity reveals the danger of confusing another person's image with one's own identity.
