Alfred Brownlee
Alfred Brownlee is an archaeologist who works in the Middle East and an associate of John Avery Whittaker. His trade is desert digs and ancient documents, a shadowy business troubled by artifact smugglers and rival organizations. He is tied to the affair of a first-century parchment said to bear on the resurrection of Jesus, a find spoken of as the greatest discovery since the Dead Sea Scrolls. When Whit vanished in Israel while pursuing that parchment, Brownlee crossed paths with Whit's son Jason and with Eugene, who had followed the trail to Tel Aviv and out to the desert dig where the whole mystery began.
