Abraham Darrow

Abraham Darrow is a stern Historical Society expert who trains the Washington family to operate a restored 1794 frontier cabin. Their cheerful first tour impresses him so little that he closes the attraction and orders a three day course in authentic settlement life. Under Abraham's watch, the family gives up electricity, pizza, soft beds, and late mornings for candle making, chimney cleaning, corn husks, and serious study. He demands accuracy because he believes visitors deserve more than costumes and guesses. The Washingtons find his methods exhausting, but their persistence finally earns his respect. Exacting and humorless at first glance, Abraham helps them appreciate both modern comforts and the endurance of families who lived without them.
